Used to create original designs, slopers show the three dimensional shape of the body as a flat pattern with basic darts, seams, and the minimal amount of ease required for woven fabrics. To create a design, draw any new seam and/or dart locations on a copy of the sloper. Then trace the new pattern pieces on a separate piece of paper, adding seam allowances. Patterns are included for the bodice, sleeve, skirt, and pants. While the slopers included here can be used with conventional pattern design techniques, they have been specifically created to be compatible with the pattern design techniques described in my book, How to Make Sewing Patterns. Illustrated step-by-step instructions are included for making up the sample garments shown here. These garments show the exact position on your doll's body's important lines such as the center front and bust as well as the seams and darts of the slopers. |
